A Pro OnPro

Starting off my Birthday Week with an acrostic poem: One less appointment  Neutrophils (white blood cells) aplenty  Primed and ready to administer 27 hrs after chemo Reduces my risk of infection  Ouch, you make me achy but keep me healthy

The arm candy in my photo was my last dose of Neulasta Onpro (a breakup I will not miss). The drug binds to specific cell receptors in my body which stimulate production of white blood cells. This is important because chemotherapy can cause a significant reduction in these white blood cells (neutropenia in the medical world) and increases my risk for infections. Modern medicine never ceases to amaze me.
