This beginner yoga pose may look easy and you’re right, it is. Easy or not, it opens, lengthens, and energizes the body. It realigns the spine and extends the chest. As a result, circulation and respiration improve.
Now would be the perfect time to take a deep breath in through your nose and gently exhale it from your body. I have been telling myself this more frequently since my diagnosis.
There are events in your life that take your breath away while others cause your breathing to accelerate. Regardless of the event, we all experience this. Before you start spinning, I want you to take a moment, stop what you're doing and take a deep breath. Give yourself time to catch up and process what’s occurring.
We can’t control life events but we can teach ourselves how to respond to them. Step one, breathe.
